Dubuque Area Vocation Association

Representatives of twelve congregations of religious women and men collaborate with the Archdiocese of Dubuque to promote a culture of vocation awareness. Recognizing and affirming the baptismal call of all Christians, we as vocation ministers of the Dubuque area reach out to nurture, promote, encourage and help those who feel called to the lifestyle of sister, brother, priest, deacon or lay ecclesial minister.

DAVA members provide the following services to the archdiocese of Dubuque:

  • do presentations in parishes and schools; retreats for faculty
  • sponsor an annual Sixth Grade Vocation Day for the Catholic schools in Dubuque county
  • speak annually in the archdiocesan high schools on the Christian call to “mission”
  • provide retreats, spiritual direction and discernment groups on college campuses
  • sponsor discernment weekends for those interested in religious life
  • collaborate with various groups in the archdiocese to sponsor a bi-annual program for youth and young adults, featuring a national speaker on vocation/call
