Fall 2013

Convened by Pope John XXIII in 1962, the Second Vatican Council brought dramatic change to the Roman Catholic Church and its relationship to the world. In his presentation to the first working session of the council, the Pope made it clear that the greatest concern of the council was that “the sacred and central truths of our Christian faith should be guarded and taught more effectively” and that “the substance of our central beliefs is one thing, and the way in which it is presented is another.” Now, 50 years later, Archbishop Michael Jackels and Fr. Dennis Colter will reflect on the legacy of Vatican II, the impact the council has had on their ministries and how it will continue to guide us in the future. Whether you lived through it or only know this as an event studied in history, don’t miss this opportunity to gain a new perspective on Vatican II through the eyes of two shepherds who are carrying out its legacy.
